JAMB Cut-off Marks for 2017/2018 for Universities, Polytechnics, Colleges and other institutions in Nigeria are important to admission seekers. Candidates who sat for UTME and have chosen schools would like to know their chance of getting admission. It is essential that you know the cut-off mark of the school you have chosen before attempting the exam. This will let you know if you need to do extra studying.
The 2017 JAMB UTME Cut-off marks should be known by candidates who took part in the 2017 UTME. This post will talk about the JAMB cut-off marks set by JAMB for all Universities, Polytechnic and other institutions. JAMB announces this every year which the schools use as benchmark for admission.

JAMB Cut-off Marks For 2017/2018 Admission

When we are talking about the JAMB UTME Cut-off marks, we do not mean the ones to be used by the school. This one is that usually released by the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board for institutions to use as benchmarks. Last year, the following were released and used by JAMB.

The cut-off marks, set by NUC, JAMB and Federal Ministry of Education for 2016/2017 is 180.
The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) and tertiary education stakeholders adopted 180 as the cut-off mark for 2016/2017 admission into universities, polytechnics and colleges of education.



The decision was reached at the 2016 Combined Policy Meeting on Admissions to Degree, Nigerian Certificate of Education (NCE) and National Diploma (ND) chaired by the Minister of Education, Adamu Adamu. In his opening remark, Mr. Adamu said if there was confidence in JAMB’s conduct of the University Tertiary Matriculation Examinations (UTME), there should be no need for post-UTME.

UPDATE: JAMB Introduces Flexible Cut-off Marks For Institution

As a result of calls by institutions who could not fill up their admission quota, flexible admission cut-off marks have been introduced. This was made know by JAMB Registrar, Professor Ishaq Oloyede.
JAMB, he said has collated the requests from the various Senates and Academic Boards and have made our pleas known to appropriate authorities. The former VC also expressed joy in the fact that though the initiative is only a few months old, change is already being felt. “Just this morning we received a green light on flexible cut-off mark only for institutions which have exhausted the list of candidates with 180 and above, subject, of course to a minimum acceptable to JAMB and meeting of other pre requisites.
Also, JAMB has approved Cut-off point of 150 and above for Evening/Part-Time Programmes of all Polytechnics in Nigeria. Therefore, if you scored around 150 and you want admission, this is an option.
